About

I am an observational astronomer at the University of Arizona, where I hold the JASPER Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Steward Observatory. I received my Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where I studied the formation and transformation of massive galaxies in the early universe, and my B.Sc. in Astronomy & Astrophysics from Nanjing University, China.

I work across multiple wavelengths and scales, combining deep imaging and spectroscopy from JWST, ALMA, and HST. I am a member of the JWST/NIRCam and JWST/MIRI Guaranteed Time Observation (GTO) Science Teams, contributing to the design, execution, and analysis of some of JWST’s deepest extragalactic surveys (e.g. JADES, SMILES). Before that, I was a member of several major Hubble Space Telescope programs, including CANDELS, UVCANDELS, and the Low-redshift Lyman Continuum Survey, which laid much of the groundwork for today’s JWST deep-field studies.

As of 2025, I serve as PI or Co-I on 44 programs across seven flagship observatories. As PI, I lead one JWST program (20 hours), two ALMA programs (55 hours), one XMM-Newton program (21 hours), and two NOEMA programs. As Co-I, I am involved in (1) 16 JWST/GO programs totaling over 650 hours, and five additional pure-parallel/survey-mode/AR programs; (2) eight HST /GO programs totaling 310 orbits; (3) five ALMA programs totaling over 90 hours, and one 95-hour ACA program; and (4) several additional programs associated with Chandra and the VLA. These programs collectively bring over $300,000 in research funding directly to me in the most recent cycle (2024-2025).

Beyond research, I value mentorship, collaboration, and communication. I have mentored undergraduate researchers, served as a referee for major astronomy journals, and contributed to survey coordination and community outreach. I believe that scientific progress grows from openness, generosity, and a shared sense of wonder about our cosmic origins.
